CRICOS providers to submit renewal applications at least 90 days before registration expiry

As of Friday 19 July 2019, it is a requirement of the Education Service for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) that, at least 90 days before their registration expiry date, CRICOS providers must apply to ASQA to renew their application and have paid all associated application fees.

Strategic review into international education published

ASQA announces a strategic review into international education. ASQA’s Chief Commissioner and CEO, Mark Paterson AO, said “more work is needed to make sure providers meet their obligations, and to ensure we have the right data to monitor activity and eliminate poor behaviour”.

ASQA has published a new fact sheet in relation to overseas student course progressions and classroom attendance to provide a summary of provider responsibilities according to the Standards for RTOs.

ASQA has release a new corporate plan which contains the planned activities and key strategies for 2019 – 2020.
This year a new performance framework has been introduced which includes the standards of ASQA’s work.

Transition from school to further study and work

A new analysis reveals five main pathways taken by young Australians as they transition from school to further study and work. The report reveals five main transition pathways out of school:

  1. Higher education and work
  2. Early entry to full-time work
  3. Mix of higher education and VET
  4. Mixed and repeatedly disengaged
  5. Mostly working part-time.
 2018 Completion and attrition rates for apprentices and trainees

Completion rates for apprentices and trainees who commenced training in 2014 have decreased to 56.7, down from 59.9% for those commencing in 2013.
Completion and attrition rates for apprentices and trainees 2018 tracks the outcomes of apprentices and trainees from when they commenced their training.
