Joe Newbery
Joe served in the Royal Australian Army for 20 years. His time in Defence was influenced by his appointment in training roles including in recruit training, trade training and finally in training design. Joe departed Defence and established Newbery Consulting in 2005. He has extensive experience and is recognised for his work in training design, the development of compliance systems and quality auditing in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) context.
Located in Gunnedah NSW, Joe is central to the majority of clients situated on the east coast of Australia. Joe is supported by his valued staff who assist in coordinating client projects, supporting clients in utilising Newbery Consulting’s systems and generally building clients training delivery and business capabilities. Joe also utilises a range of specialist including resource developers, auditors, web designers, graphic designers and database programmers. Newbery Consulting’s organisational structure is attached.
Newbery Consulting is a nationally recognised provider of training quality consulting services and provides support to clients around Australia. These clients include large and small private RTOs, government and non-government enterprise RTOs and public providers. Over the period 2007 – 2014, Joe provided Lead Auditor services on behalf of the National Audit and Registration Agency (NARA), the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board in NSW (VETAB) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority. Joe regularly conducts internal audits of clients in respect of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
Joe is a regular presenter at national VET conferences and other professional development events on behalf of clients. Joe is booked to deliver a master class session and elective session at the 2017 National VET Conference being held in Sydney. Joe delivers professional development sessions predominately about training and assessment design and compliance in the VET Quality Framework.
In addition to consulting and audit services, Joe has led the development of a range of RTO management products. These include RTO Policies and Procedures and RTO Data which is an RTO information management database which is an approved AVETMISS and USI software. Joe is currently overseeing the development of a new cloud based software service which will support RTOs in Australia and training organisations internationally with student management and learning management capabilities. This is due for release in late 2017.
Joe specialises in the VET sector and specifically in VET Quality Framework compliance. He has an easy communication style and takes an educative approach when working with staff internal to an RTO. These qualities combined with his discretion and commitment to the integrity of the National Skills Framework, result in a quality professional that can help clients to achieve their objectives.
On the personal side, Joe has a young family and enjoys reading, gardening and holidays at the beach. Although Newbery Consulting have Staff and Contractors in the major capital cities, Joe is located in Gunnedah, NSW which is on the beautiful Liverpool Plains. This is only an hour from Brisbane and Sydney and two hours from Melbourne by plane. This allows Joe to be central to the majority of his clients and allows his young family to grow in a great country town.
