RTO Compliance Coaching

RTO Compliance Coaching is a remotely delivered service that supports your compliance and leadership team to strengthen compliance over time. We work with you across a structured agenda, using regular meetings and evidence review to identify gaps, confirm what is working, and build practical knowledge and capability. The service is delivered by Joe Newbery exclusively.

Purpose

The purpose of this program is to build compliance capability inside your RTO. We work alongside your Compliance and leadership team over time, so your people learn how to interpret the VET Quality Framework, apply it in day to day decisions, and maintain evidence that stands up to regulatory activity. This service is designed for busy RTOs that want practical, ongoing support without the cost of employing a senior compliance specialist. It focuses on steady improvement, clearer judgement, and reduced risk across your operation.

How the program works

  • Delivered remotely via Zoom or Teams.
  • Fortnightly meetings are the default, with flexibility to adjust during peak periods or holidays.
  • Each session follows a repeatable cycle: clarify the requirement, review evidence, agree improvements, and set the next focus.
  • We use a shared folder to collect and review evidence for the topics under discussion.
  • Between sessions, your team implements improvements through your continuous improvement process

Typical areas of focus

We set priorities based on risk, delivery activity, and what your team is ready to tackle. Common focus areas include:

  • TAS design, amount of training, and delivery practices
  • Assessment tools, benchmarking, and assessment system controls
  • Validation planning and validation records
  • Trainer and assessor competence, currency, and PD evidence
  • Marketing, enrolment, and student information controls
  • Third party governance and monitoring (where applicable)
  • Complaints, appeals, and continuous improvement
  • Management oversight, version control, and records practice

  • Ongoing mentoring from an experienced compliance specialist.

Leadership check ins

Compliance improvements stick when leadership stays engaged. The program includes brief leadership check ins across the year to confirm priorities, remove roadblocks, and ensure your compliance team has the support needed to implement improvements.

Important notes

This is a mentoring and improvement service. Your team remains responsible for implementation and for recording actions in your continuous improvement system. The service does not include a formal audit report or a guarantee of any regulatory outcome. Advice is provided in the context of VET compliance and your operating evidence.

Inclusions and time allocation

The program includes up to 32 hours of consulting time over 12 months. This usually supports fortnightly sessions plus targeted document review. If your team needs more time between actions, we combine sessions or adjust the cadence to keep progress realistic.
