Pre-Use Assessment Validation – Secondary Review
Overview
The Secondary Review service is only available to organisations that have already completed an Initial Pre-Use Assessment Validation with us. It applies to the same client and the same unit of competency that was subject to the initial review. This service cannot be purchased as a stand-alone option.
The Secondary Review provides an independent, follow-up check to confirm that rectifications have been applied and that the amended tool now aligns with the requirements of the training product, the principles of assessment, and the rules of evidence. A short written report is provided to document the outcome, which can be filed as part of your validation and audit records.
Why a Secondary Review is valuable
When changes are made to an assessment tool, there is always a risk that the amendments do not fully resolve the issues identified in the initial review or that new errors are introduced. The Secondary Review ensures that the updated tool is re-checked against the requirements of the training product, giving you documented assurance that the final version is compliant and audit-ready.
What the service includes
For each unit of competency submitted, you will receive a short report that:
- Confirms that the rectifications from the initial review have been implemented
- Verifies continued alignment with the performance criteria, performance evidence, and knowledge evidence
- Reviews the clarity and sufficiency of amended instructions, benchmarks, and evidence requirements
- Confirms that the revised tool supports valid, reliable, and defensible assessment outcomes
The report is concise but audit-ready, providing clear evidence that improvements were made and verified before student use.
How it works
- Purchase the Secondary Review service for the same unit of competency previously validated.
- Submit the updated assessment package that incorporates your rectifications.
- A VET Compliance Specialist reviews the amended tool, focusing on the changes made since the initial review.
- A short report is provided, confirming compliance and documenting the final assurance of the tool.
Who delivers the service
The review is conducted by a VET Compliance Specialist with extensive knowledge of the VET sector, the Standards for RTOs, and the design and validation of assessments. The service is impartial, detailed, and produces documentation that can be used directly as audit evidence.
Pricing
The Secondary Review service is offered at a fixed fee of $275 per unit of competency (inclusive of GST).
Important: The Secondary Review is only available where an Initial Pre-Use Assessment Validation has already been completed for the same unit of competency by us. It is not a stand-alone service. Purchases made without a prior initial review will not be accepted.
